Your Local Library
One of the remaining facilities in the village is the public library and when Wakefield MDC made a decision to close the library on the 31 October 2012, the Parish Council together with the Community Learning Centre approached the District Council to agree to transfer the library to the Community Learning Centre in order that this facility was not lost altogether.
A grant was received to enable adaptation work to be implemented so that the library could be located at the entrance to the Community Learning Centre.
Havercroft Library was formally opened by Councilor Denise Jeffrey on the 27 November 2012, today the library has a membership of 509.
The library consists of two sections one for adults and a separate room for children’s books. The library has over 5,000 books, two computers with internet access and is free of charge for members of the public.
Havercroft Library is open Monday to Thursday between 9.00 am and 3.00pm.
